Dr. Aurelia Ionescu was a member of British Psychoanalytical Society and a psychoanalyst in private practice in London since 2001. She graduated in Psychology at the University of Bucharest with a PhD in family psychopathology in psychotic breakdowns. She taught on the Masters course in Bucharest University and undertook clinical teaching in Lundt, Sweden. She also taught on the D58 course at the Tavistock Clinic. She was involved in a European Psychoanalytic Federation research group on "Thinking psychoanalytically between languages" (Language Workshop Group) and was interested in film analysis and literature, being a consultant to the European Psychoanalytic Film Festival. She was, for many years, a member of the organising committee for Cambridge Convention of the Association of Independent Psychoanalysts and was a founding member of the Romanian Society of Psychoanalysis. She actively participated in the Anglo-French and the Anglo-Finnish colloquia.
